Omar Farooq, more commonly known as #OmarTries in Arabic, has become a household in his home country Bahrain and the wider Gulf region in recent years, particularly with the youth. The 25-year-old filmmaker and YouTuber rose to recognition after producing and sharing videos centered on trying new things or putting himself in other people’s shoes. His videos, which have been viewed by tens of millions and have English subtitles, document his experiences of working as a construction worker for a day, walking barefoot to Africa, working as an ambulance driver, living with the Rohingya, working as a gravedigger and much more. His efforts have earned him multiple awards, including the Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad International Youth Creativity Award.

In this video interview, we get personal with the young Bahraini. He tells us what made him passionate about trying new things in the first place, reveals previously unknown facts about him and, in true #OmarTries spirit, tries something he had never tried before with us.
