Poem: It’s all right

"The day will come, and you’ll get to yet again see the light."

By Manhal Al-Rawahi

Artwork by Bahraini illustrator Hana Khadem.

It’s all right.

We’ll make it through this night.

In the end we did what’s right.

It’s all right.

We’ll make it through this night.

But why do I miss our arguments and fights?

Calm down, it’s all right.

We’ll make it through this night.

But is it all right?

Will we be back together? Or at least, we might?

Its been months… not just a night.

It’s all right. We’ll make it through this night.

We? Who’s we? You’re alone. You’ll never reunite.

It’s all right.

The day will come,

and you’ll get to yet again see the light.

Just make it through this night.

Set new goals,

climb a mountain,

forget the height.

Run around, play with kites!

Life is good. It’s all right.

Just don’t wrap it around your hands too tight.

Let go, set free, let it go, it’ll take flight.

It’ll look more beautiful without you,

watch it disappear into the white.

You hate that colour, so… it’s all right.
