Dear readers,

Two major events happen in the Arab Gulf States over the summer: vacations and weddings. Deciding who you would be marrying and spending the rest of your life with is perhaps one of the most important decisions of your life. This is why we couldn’t think of a better theme to dedicate our summer issue to than marriage.

For this special issue, we have curated a selection of articles, photo stories and creative works depicting the opinions, outlooks and creativity of content creators of the region on this wide issue.

In our pages, as on our cover, we feature the photography of rising Bahraini photographer Ishaq Madan, whose photography forms a photo story of the different ways men in Bahrain glam up for their big day. Our artworks, as in our previous issues, were primarily commissioned to regional artists, in our efforts to empower more visual content creators to share their work through journalism, and to provide a more authentic narrative to our region’s stories.

We hope that you enjoy our issue. As always, Sekka is your platform, to tell your own stories. After all, no one can tell our region’s rich stories as much as you can. We’re only an e-mail away, and we’d love to hear your feedback, or discuss your contribution to Sekka.

Much love,

Manar and Sharifah Alhinai
